We're conducting a 12-month research study to evaluate a new methodology in home care support. It uses breakthrough technology and a private care team to keep seniors safe around the clock.
What Is This Research Study About?
We're conducting a 12-month study to see how new technology, combined with timely support from a private care team, can help prevent hospital visits and health issues like falls—so seniors can stay safe and independent at home. The program uses discreet sensors that detect falls and other health signals without being intrusive. If a need is identified, we'll offer personalized interventions at a subsidized rate, like home care, nursing, or physiotherapy. These services are optional—you can choose to accept or decline. Our goal is to catch problems early and support seniors in living safely at home.

What Does Participation Involve?
This Care & Safety program allows seniors to live at home as long as possible without being intrusive or cumbersome.
Step 1: Setup
Eligible participants will be contacted by Equinoxe LifeCare after applying. You'll receive a clear explanation of the study and provide your informed consent.
Quick Sensor Installation
A member of our team will visit your home to install three smart acoustic sensors (plug-in devices).
- The process takes about 15 minutes
- No cameras, no wearables, no charging
- Your privacy is fully protected, only unique sound patterns are analyzed
Step 2: Detection
12-Month Program
You continue living safely and independently at home. The system works quietly in the background, analyzing sound patterns for potential signs of health concerns.
You may occasionally receive:
- Wellness check-in calls or short surveys
- Optional wellness tips or safety resources tailored to your needs
Private Home Care Team
A 24/7 private care team receive alerts and insights from your home smart sensors.
Step 3: Intervention
If the sensors detect patterns suggesting an increased risk—such as reduced movement or signs of frailty—your care team will reach out to discuss a tailored prevention plan. This may include:
- Home nursing visits
- Physiotherapy or rehab
- Fall prevention strategies
- Other supportive services

In the event of a detected fall or urgent situation, your private care team will be alerted immediately and can quickly coordinate appropriate help—ensuring fast, informed response when needed most.

Our team will be notified 24/7 to act upon detected events. Thanks to a generous grant from the government through the envisAGE initiative, certified caregiver shifts are available at a subsidized rate.
